A pinch-point Preston junction near to the city’s prison is to see major roadworks for three weeks.
Traffic light works take place at the Deepdale Road and Ribbleton Lane junction from Wednesday (21 January).
Lancashire County Council say the most disruptive work will be carried out overnight, with closures of Deepdale Road lasting up to four days.

The overnight closures will start from Sunday 25 January to Wednesday 28 January between 7pm and 7am each night.
Bus services, particularly the 19 Preston Bus route, will be affected during these times and passengers are advised to check for alternative routes and services.
The replacement of the old traffic lights will help to keep the junction coordinating efficiently and effectively with the Ring Way, Stanley Street and Church Street signals which were replaced last year in major roadworks.
County councillor Warren Goldsworthy, cabinet member for highways and transport at the Reform-led administration, said: “This upgrade is essential to keep the junction operating safely and will help to build on previous works in this area, offering improved congestion management during peak periods through this busy part of Preston.
“By carrying out most of the work overnight, we’re keeping disruption to a minimum. Once complete, the new equipment will improve reliability and lower running costs, providing better value for money.
“Thank you to residents and road users for their patience while this work takes place.”
The traffic light works are the latest in a number of replacements which have been made along the A6 from the Ringway and prison junction all the way up to the Black Bull Lane crossroads in Fulwood to replace what the county council say are out-dated traffic lights.
