A car was abandoned in the early hours of New Year’s Day after the driver was involved in a crash.

Police came across the car, with significant damage, on Bolton Road at the junction with Wigan Lane to the south of Chorley some time before 4.30am on New Year’s Day (1 January).

They found heavy damage to the front of the car and the airbags deployed – but the driver had left the scene.

The vehicle was seized by Lancashire Constabulary and the owner was sent legal documentation to answer offences of driving with no licence or insurance, failing to stop at the scene of a crash and failing to report a crash.
