Kirkham Baths could be brought back to life after the council backed a £9.3 million investment package.

In a major boost to leisure facilities, Fylde Council’s executive committee has backed the most significant upgrade to the area’s swimming provision in the council’s history.

The plans, which go before full council on Tuesday, 27 January, would see St Annes Pool completely transformed and Kirkham Baths brought back into use after years of uncertainty.

Councillors say the proposal represents the most financially sustainable option while ensuring both communities benefit.

Under the scheme, St Annes Pool would also be modernised into a high‑quality leisure hub featuring a 50‑station gym, spa facilities, an indoor splash pad for families, new studios and a café.

Kirkham residents, meanwhile, could soon see their much‑loved pool reopened.

The plans include a full reconditioning of the baths, a new fitness suite and refurbished changing rooms, restoring a key community asset.

The investment will be subject to detailed building surveys and risk assessments before work begins.

Council leader Karen Buckley said the recommendation ‘reflects our determination to find a practical and sustainable answer to swimming provision in Fylde’.
