More than a dozen cars have been seized from roads in an area of Preston blighted by illegal and abandoned vehicles.

Officers worked with the DVLA to identify ‘problematic’ vehicles on multiple streets in the St Matthews area of Preston, including Skeffington Road, Great George Street, Canute Street, Egbert Street, Deepdale Street and Ribbleton Street.

The aim of the move is to remove untaxed, abandoned or unroadworthy vehicles from the streets and 14 were seized in total.

“We know that these abandoned vehicles can be hazardous for pedestrians and cause problems for businesses, as well as being a real eyesore for those visiting and working in the area.

“We remain committed to addressing these concerns and encourage everyone to report issues to us so that we can work to tackle them.”
