A couple from Preston celebrated the birth of their baby girl with a mega order of Tipsy Chef – direct to Royal Preston Hospital’s maternity ward.

Carolanne Leighton, 20, had been through a long four days of labour which ended in a C-section on Thursday (26 February). The newborn required treatment in the neonatal intensive care unit but mother and child are both described as ‘all well and healthy’.

Both Carolanne and husband Dylan Leighton, 21, were low on sleep and food and decided they knew what they were craving and placed the order.

Carolanne told Blog Preston: “We should be home in a few days, but we were running on little food and no sleep and, after a bit of rest, all I wanted was some salt and pepper bao buns.

“I got the bao buns and some korean chicken, my husband had the OG burger and og fries and we shared the hash browns.

“As avid Tipsy goers we were really excited to a good meal in, I’m just ready for when I can go in for a sit-in meal and have a frozen margarita again.”

She was also full of praise for hospital staff and added: “The staff here at the hospital have been absolutely amazing and I couldn’t fault them in the slightest. They are continuing to be the most attentive team, especially the NICU team.”

A note on order made by Dylan said: “Just on the maternity ward with my wife, she’s just given birth a few hours ago and first thing she said is she wants a Tipsy aha. Please could you add some cutlery! You guy’s rock.”

Tipsy Chef did add a bonus dish into the bag by way of congratulations.

Jay Oates, the owner of Tipsy Chef, told Blog Preston: “We get a few quirky or funny notes on our Uber and Deliveroo orders that we always love reading and happy to accommodate as much as possible! Never one like this though, that’s a first!

“Times have never been tougher for the hospitality sector and with people closing down left, right and centre we are just happy to still be here and love the support from our amazing customers.”
