Edinburgh has been recognised as a Finalist in the UK Wellbeing Living Awards 2026, an initiative presented by The Oak Tree Practice, a leading UK mental health and wellbeing therapy practice.

The award highlights locations across the UK that demonstrate strong indicators associated with positive mental health, lower reported stress and higher overall wellbeing. Finalists were selected based on a combination of national wellbeing survey data, public health indicators, access to green and blue space, community connection and resident-reported life satisfaction.

Edinburgh was selected as a Finalist among 15 locations across the UK, recognised for everyday living conditions that are more supportive of mental wellbeing. Key indicators included strong walkability, good access to services, a manageable pace of life and wellbeing measures that consistently performed above national averages.

A spokesperson for The Oak Tree Practice said:

“We are delighted to recognise Edinburgh as a finalist in the UK Wellbeing Living Awards 2026. Through our work supporting individuals with stress, anxiety and emotional wellbeing, we see first-hand how the environment and community can shape mental health. This award celebrates places that offer conditions which help people feel more supported in their day-to-day lives.”

The UK Wellbeing Living Awards aim to raise awareness of the wider factors that influence mental health, beyond individual circumstances alone. While no location is free from challenge, finalist areas consistently demonstrated higher life satisfaction and lower stress levels than national averages.

The Oak Tree Practice provides professional mental health and wellbeing support to individuals and families across the UK and is committed to promoting awareness of both personal and environmental influences on wellbeing.
