A commercial building in the heart of Garstang could soon see its upper floors transformed into new homes after plans were lodged with Wyre Council.

Local firm Armitstead Barnett has put forward proposals for a change of use at 42 Market Place, Garstang, and is seeking permission to convert the first and second floors from office space into two self‑contained flats.

The ground floor would remain in commercial use for Armistead Barnett as a high street estate agents, but the upper floors would be transformed.

According to the plans, the first floor would be reshaped to create a flat with living, kitchen and dining space, along with a bedroom and bathroom. A second flat would be formed on the top floor, making use of the available floorspace.

According to the planning statement, the building’s central location within walking distance of shops, services, public transport and parking, makes it a highly sustainable site for town‑centre living.
