A national housebuilder has donated £3,000 to a Clayton Le-Woods school.

Clayton-Le-Woods Church of England Primary School received the donation after the school council applied for funding through a Persimmon Lancashire initiative.

The Community Champions Initiative sees each of the homebuilder’s regional businesses donate up to £6,000 every quarter of the year to local charities and good causes.

“The children have worked hard to raise funds for new outdoor equipment, and this support means we can now install outdoor gym equipment for all ages, helping to promote a healthier, more active lifestyle in our school.”

Persimmon Lancashire managing director, Gareth Stansfield, presented the donation to pupils and staff during their morning assembly, with Councillor Neville Whitham in attendance.

He said: “At Persimmon, we want to leave a lasting positive legacy through supporting local people, and I am delighted we can do just that with this donation to Clayton-Le-Woods C of E Primary School, who are a cornerstone of their local community.

“It was great to see how excited the pupils were, and I hope they enjoy the new outdoor equipment.”
