Anti-corruption movement, Transparency International, says South Africa has made no progress in combating corruption in the past three years. The movement’s 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index, which was released today, found worsening corruption and a decline in leadership globally, with South Africa stagnating with a score of 41.

This is the same as last year, with the score still below the global average of 42.

The index measures levels of public-sector corruption in 182 countries and territories on a scale of zero, indicating highly corrupt, to 100 which is very clean.
