Pink Ribbon Foundation’s BOLD Exhibition Makes Emotional Debut at Scottish Parliament

The Pink Ribbon Foundation brought its flagship BOLD exhibition to the Scottish Parliament for the first time, displaying striking portraits at Holyrood from 10-12 February. MSPs marked the end of the exhibition by wearing pink and gathering on the Garden Lobby steps for a photo with Lisa Allen of the Pink Ribbon Foundation and BOLD models.

Photographed by acclaimed artist Caroline Sikkenk, BOLD presents intimate and uncompromising images that challenge perceptions of breast cancer and celebrate resilience, strength and identity. The Edinburgh exhibition follows a well-received debut in Glasgow in September 2025 and has been brought to Parliament with the support of MSP Paul McLennan, underlining growing political recognition of the need for greater awareness and visibility around the disease.

“I was inspired to work with the Pink Ribbon Foundation to bring BOLD to the Scottish Parliament following the loss of my colleague, Christina McKelvie, last year.

“Christina was a beacon of hope for all of us, and was a fierce advocate for women, who did all in her power to amplify the voices of women with breast cancer.

“Her death had a profound impact on all of us in Parliament. This project allows us to shine a light on the strength and beauty of those facing hair loss during breast cancer treatment” said McLennan.

About the BOLD Project

The BOLD project is a poignant and courageous initiative that centres the lived experiences of women affected by breast cancer and the impact of hair loss during treatment. Here in the UK, the project originally placed inspiring images of 13 women* who had been affected by breast cancer and hair loss on the iconic Piccadilly Lights in London and the Midtown board on Times Square in New York simultaneously.

*In 2024/2025, the BOLD family sadly lost two of its 13 beautiful models – both Sally Franklin and Linda Nolan had long battled secondary breast cancer. They left behind loved ones, but also a wonderful legacy in their association with BOLD.

Following the exhibition in Edinburgh, the Pink Ribbon Foundation and Caroline Sikkenk will take the BOLD project to Wales, heading to Cardiff in the spring to photograph Welsh women affected by hair loss due to breast cancer treatment.
