Police explain major presence in Moor Park after reports of weapon being carried

A large police presence in Moor Park has been explained.

Multiple vehicles and a large crew of police officers were seen on the Blackpool Road side of the city’s largest park.

Preston Police said they were called to reports of a boy being seen carrying a metal pole as a weapon.

Officers attended the park just before 3pm on Wednesday (4 February) to find a boy was carrying a bicycle seat.

A police spokesperson told Blog Preston: “The call was made with good intention, no offences were found to have been committed.”

Police had stopped traffic briefly towards the Sir Tom Finney Way junction while enquiries were made.
