Rosemere Cancer Foundation promotes gardening with new seed swap scheme

A specialist therapeutic radiographer has promoted her belief in the physical, mental and emotional benefits of gardening to patients.

Katie Fisher has encouraged the centre’s radiotherapy patients to nurture plants through a seed donation.

Receiving 500 packs worth £1,250 from the company, Mr Fothersgill, Katie talked about the impact of gardening.

She said: “Gardening has been shown to reduce stress, improve wellbeing and restore dexterity and strength.

“By inviting people to gather seeds from their own gardens to bring in and swap, we hope to encourage people to get outside into nature and promote that feel-good feeling of giving back. 

“The seed swap area is a great place for patients to meet and hopefully, start conversations that will lead to friendships with others going through a similar experience.”
