A 16-year-old Zumba® instructor is preparing to bring energy, community spirit and fundraising together this summer as he organises one of the North East’s most uplifting fitness events of the year.
Will Kirvan, a young instructor from Newcastle, will host the Party in Orange: A Zumbathon® charity event for Maggie’s Newcastle on 4 July at the White Swan Centre in Killingworth, aiming to raise vital funds for Maggie’s Centres.
The two-hour event, running from 10am to 12pm, is expected to draw participants from across the region, with both experienced dancers and beginners invited to take part in what organisers describe as a high-energy “Party in Orange” celebration.
Will Kirvan has quickly built a reputation for combining fitness with fundraising. In 2025, he organised a similar event inspired by his family’s personal experience with cancer, after his mother received treatment and support from Maggie’s Newcastle.
Now, returning for a second year, the teenage organiser hopes to build on that success and expand the event’s impact.
The Zumbathon® will feature a lineup of instructors joining Kirvan on stage, creating a festival-like atmosphere designed to keep participants moving throughout the session.
Funds raised will go directly to Maggie’s Newcastle, which provides free practical, emotional and social support to individuals and families facing cancer. The charity relies heavily on community-led initiatives like Kirvan’s event to continue its work.
With tickets open to the public and additional donations encouraged on the day, organisers are hopeful the 2026 Zumbathon® will surpass previous fundraising efforts.
As the music starts and the dancing begins this July, all eyes will be on a teenager whose passion for fitness—and determination to give back—continues to inspire a growing community.
