A charity rounders tournament will return to Longridge this May after the overwhelming success of last year’s event.

Held in memory of Jade Cronshaw and raising funds for the Epilepsy Research Institute, the 2025 tournament at Longridge Football Club raised several thousand pounds.

Jade died on 5 May, 2005, from an epileptic seizure aged just 13. However, family and friends have undertaken a range of fundraising challenges in the 21 years since her death to generate much need charity funds in her memory.

Jade’s sister Lauren Blackburn, from Longridge, said: “Following the success of last year’s event, we have decided to go ahead with our rounders event again in 2026 in memory of my sister, Jade Cronshaw.

“We are again raising funds for epilepsy research and will have a number of things going on during the day including a raffle, cake sale and tombola. We would be so grateful for donations of raffle prizes, bottles and for anyone who would like to bake for us. Everyone’s help is hugely appreciated.”

The event will take place on Sunday, 3 May, at Longridge FC’s ground on Inglewhite Road and organisers are looking for ladies rounders teams to take part, with nine players needed for each team.
