The fifth accused in the attempted murder case involving Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and four others is expected to appear alone in the Johannesburg High Court on Wednesday.

Nthabiseng Nzama, who faces a charge of money laundering, had submitted representations to the state requesting that charges against her be withdrawn.

The prosecution alleges that funds from Matlala’s business account were transferred into Nzama’s account and used to pay alleged gunmen involved in the attempted assassination of Tebogo Thobejane and Seunkie “DJ Vettys” Mokubung.

Nzama’s legal team has argued that the state’s case against her lacks prospects of success.

The court had ordered the state to consider her representations and provide feedback by Monday. The state has since decided not to withdraw the charges and is expected to formally communicate this outcome in court on Wednesday.
