A small estate of bungalows for the over-55s has been officially opened in Grimsargh.
Brookdale sits on Preston Road close to Grimsargh St Michael’s Primary School and Skew Bridge, and was originally approved more than six years ago, as previously reported by Blog Preston.
The original plans contained residential apartments and a health centre, but these were removed from later iterations of the proposal, with the site currently home to 48 bungalows.

Developed by Applethwaite, there are four different house designs including a selection of one, two and three bedroom detached and semi-detached bungalows.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with the planting of a tree and placement of a time capsule, took place during a recent opening event.
The Mayor of Preston, Cllr Sue Whittam, attended the opening and said: “The development is meeting the needs of the community with homes specifically for the over 55s in a well-connected community alongside neighbours who can share experiences.”
Managing director of Applethwaite, Tim Rackham, added: “Grimsargh is a thriving community which we are excited to be part of. The locality has plentiful local services and activities and we are proud to bring forward our Brookdale development of 48 bungalows specifically designed for the over 55s in mind.”
