Jack Whitehall brought a decade-old meme back to the big screen during the Brits.

Presenting the music awards, live from Manchester, he was joined by Shaun Jackson – better known as ‘gurning rave guy’.

Whitehall brought us right back to 2014 clubbing in Preston when Shaun shot to fame in the promo video for ‘Bounce By The Ounce’ at what was the Rumes nightclub in Church Street.

As the comedian walked the floor Jackson appeared to one side busting his legendary moves.

Whitehall said: “We’ve got ravers with the Brit School kids.”

This set off a huge cheer from the crowd as Jackson brought his unique style of raving to the Brits.

Whitehall continued: “There it is. The big man keeping the spirit of the Hacienda alive.”

And throwing shade at our fine city, Whitehall said: “Don’t look concerned kids, he’s actually the same age as you…. he’s just from Preston”

Jackson’s video notched up hundreds of thousands of views when it shot to fame in 2014 and has continued to resurface regularly as a meme on social media and online. More than a decade on and it is now on 10million views.

In 2022 he became a limited edition action figure, produced by Rave Icons, as an unusual Christmas present for the raver in your life.

Whitehall has a good memory, he used ‘gurning rave guy’ to spar with his League Of Their Own competition and Preston legend Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff as they traded memories of nights out spent together.
