Preston Railway Station’s ‘Kiss and Ride’ sign has been removed part of station-wide renovation of signage by its operator.
The station is operated by Avanti West Coast and the ‘Kiss and Ride’ signs had been in place since 2015 with a view to encourage quick drop-offs at the Fishergate entrance.
But in December 2025, it was confirmed that 261 signs at the station – which it now appears includes the ‘Kiss and Ride’ signs – would be removed and replaced with 196 new ‘wayfinders’.

Avanti West Coast said the change is to try to introduce a consistent look and feel across all stations.
A spokesperson for Avanti West Coast said: “To make it easier for people to find their way around Preston station and meet industry standards, we’re refreshing the signage across the platforms and entrances.
“We know Preston locals are fond of the ‘Kiss and Ride’ sign and while it’s making way for clearer signage, we still hope everyone will share a quick affectionate moment when dropping off those they care about.”
