A spokesperson for Samlesbury Hall said: “We were very sad to hear today [Sunday] that one of our elderly visitors was hit by a car, she was thrown to the ground and has suffered a broken arm as a result.

“However we were particularly angry to learn that the driver of the vehicle did not stop and simply drove away.

“We have had a huge number of visitors today and are hoping that someone will have witnessed the incident which happened around 12noon in the link road between the Hall car park and the Garden Room car park.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log 0814 of 15 March.
