Preston Hindu Temple marks International Women’s Day

A Preston Hindu temple has marked International Women’s Day with a community assembly.

Women from Preston came together at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir to celebrate.

The event, themed “Give to Gain”, was part of a nationwide programme and began wth a lamp lighting ceremony called Deep Pragatya.

The attendees took to the stage to share personal stories of everyday generosity, and the assembly concluded with a collective reflection.

Rita Patel, a volunteer at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Preston, shared, “Events like this remind us that the most meaningful contributions often begin with the smallest acts.

“When women feel seen, supported and inspired, entire communities are strengthened.”
