Preston Symphony Orchestra will bring the classics to Chorley, featuring a piano soloist who has played at the BBC Proms seven times.
Pianist Martin Roscoe will be the soloist at the Orchestra’s next concert at St Michael’s Academy in Astley Road on Sunday 29 March.
Roscoe has enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades and is one of the UK’s most frequently broadcast pianists on BBC Radio 3. He has made more than 600 broadcasts, including seven appearances at the BBC Proms, and performs regularly with leading orchestras across the UK and internationally.

Alex Roe, publicity and marketing manager for Preston Symphony Orchestra, said: “Martin Roscoe is a pianist audiences across the UK know and respect, and we’re pleased he will be performing with Preston Symphony Orchestra. It will be a special occasion for our players and for audiences in the area.
“All the orchestra’s concerts in 2024 and 2025 sold out to large audiences, reflecting strong local interest in live orchestral music.”
The concert begins at 6.45 pm and opens with the Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg by Richard Wagner.
The programme continues with Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor, Op.16, performed by Martin Roscoe. The concert concludes with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88.
Preston Symphony Orchestra is a community symphony orchestra based in Preston, bringing together musicians from across the county. The orchestra was formed in 2024 following a call for local players and is led by principal conductor Marco Giudici.
