High street giant Primark has confirmed it will close all its stores across England, Wales and Northern Ireland for more than 24 hours next month.

The retailer announced the one‑day shutdown will take place over Easter weekend, as its shops adhere to trading laws under the Sunday Trading Act 1994.

All Primark stores across England, Wales and Northern Ireland will close next month for one day

This means all Primark branches except those in Scotland will be closed for a full day on Easter Sunday, March 29, 2026.

A Primark spokesperson told the Mirror:

“On Easter Sunday only stores in Scotland will be open and all stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be closed.”

The closure is part of a long‑standing requirement that large shops over 280 square metres shut on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day. Smaller convenience stores, however, are free to open as usual.

When will Primark stores reopen?

Most branches are expected to close at 10pm on Saturday, March 28, and reopen from 8am on Monday, March 30, though trading hours may vary by location. Primark is encouraging customers to check individual store opening times before travelling.

Why does Easter Sunday trading differ in Scotland?

Unlike England, Wales and Northern Ireland, Scotland does not have Sunday trading restrictions, allowing shops to open freely. This means Scottish Primark customers can still bag their bargains while stores elsewhere in the UK take a one‑day pause.

So, if you’re planning your Easter shopping trip, you’ve got until Saturday night to grab those last‑minute spring essentials – before Primark locks its doors for the annual Easter break.
