A pub in Preston will be closed until at least the summer, after the owners said they wanted to find a new management team and fix issues at the site.

The Princess Alice, on Cambridge Walk in Plungington, will remain open on Mondays to allow the pool team to play.

The pub was taken over by a couple in 2024 after the previous landlords retired.

The Princess Alice is recommended by CAMRA and described as a ‘large traditional friendly Victorian local in a redeveloped residential area’.

It is one of the last remaining former Matthew Brown brewery pubs still open in the city.

In a post on Facebook, the owners said: “Yes, we are closing. We will be looking to open back up under new management.

“We don’t know how long this will take but we are also aware there are a few issues within the pub which we will be looking at fixing.

“We are staying open on Mondays only for the foreseeable to accommodate our brilliant pool team. We hope to see you all back in the summer.”
