In the run-up to Mother’s Day, Preston is abuzz with a wide range of activities and events to suit all tastes and interests.
Cinemas across Preston will be hosting a number of live events from Art Exhibitions Live to nationally acclaimed comedy shows and more, and local venues in Preston will be offering a range of things to do, including a range of gigs from across several genres, activities for Mother’s Day, and unique tours to explore hidden gems around Preston.

Beatrice Blackhurst’s Scrapbook: Early 20th Century Preston

Beatrice Blackhurst was a prolific campaigner and supporter of good causes in Preston, especially those that supported women’s issues. Her scrapbook contains mementoes and memories from the 1900s to the 1940s and shines a light into the world of this former domestic servant, who climbed the social ladder through marriage and used her energies to improve conditions for others. Incorporating the memories of her grandson, this talk also touches on family life in Lancashire in the 1950s.

This Preston Tech Connection meet-up explores how power in technology has evolved, with a focus on Preston and Lancashire, and what that means for those building, working, and innovating here today.
Wednesday 11 March
Caring For Heritage At Risk Seminar
St. Walburges Church
Come and hear Michael Goulding of Heritage Specialist Contractors, HCR, and Duncan Sanderson, Project Architect at St Walburge’s Church, Preston, describe the process of identifying roof defects in historic buildings, and how they decide the best way to repair each defect.
The session will include a visit to St Walburge’s and a chance to see the church’s ongoing roof repairs from the scaffolding.

Chew’s Yard Open Jam hosted by Kindred
Chew’s Yard
The first Chew’s Yard Open Jam of 2026 takes place on Thursday, 12th March, starting at 7pm. Musicians and vocalists welcome, drum kit provided.
Aphotic Sky + Neo Cryptid + Parasite Kings
The Ferret
Aphotic Sky is a local metalcore five-piece band making an appearance at The Ferret alongside Neo Cryptid, a metal EDM style group, and Parasite Kings. This gig is free to enter.
Grain Electric in the Conti Snug
The Continental
Grain Electric is a British Americana band that takes the classic Americana style of performing and transforms it with contemporary British charm and wit. This gig is also free to enter.

Village Halls Week 2026 Launch event
Parbold Village Hall
Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) is kicking off its annual Village Halls Week here in Preston. The event aims to draw attention to, raise awareness of, and support Village Halls as hubs in the community. The event provides a chance for village hall committees to come together and share insights.
The Fillers (The Official Killers Tribute)
53 Degrees
The Fillers are the world’s first and best tribute to “The Killers.” Formed in 2006 in the era of Sam’s Town and based in the country where The Killers had their initial success. Having interacted with the actual band at close quarters, they’ve captured the sound, look, and feel of the Vegas quartet.
Take the Stage – Live Duo Karaoke Night

Join Chris Wilde & Andy Flynn for a high-energy karaoke night like no other! Sing your heart out as they perform live on stage, backing you with all your favourite hits from across rock, pop, indie, and dance.
The Continental
Brave Rival is a rock band from Portsmouth that has gotten a lot of favorable press since forming in 2019. Now, they are coming to The Continental to share their sound with Preston.

Chew’s Yard
Ahead of St Patrick’s Day, Chew’s Yard welcomes back Kagan Plant. With his guitar, soulful vocals, and the occasional harmonica, Kagan will take the audience on a musical journey spanning decades and genres. Expect an eclectic mix of country, indie, rock and roll, 1980s hits, and a generous selection of Irish favourites.

Crosstown Concerts present: Kyle Falconer – Scottish musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of The View.
Absolute Bowie – Greatest Hits

Now in their 20th year of touring, Absolute Bowie delivers an electrifying performance packed with theatrical flair, breathtaking musicianship, and more costume ch-ch-ch-anges than any other Bowie tribute in the world.
The Continental
Opal Ocean is an Australian acoustic duo redefining what two guitars can do. Blending elements of flamenco, rock, and progressive music, Alex Champ and Nadav Tabak craft a sound that’s both technically impressive and deeply expressive.

Twelve Tellers
The Twelve Tellers is hosting a participatory musical event on occasional Sundays where visitors are welcome to come and make music together. All instruments and vocals welcome, and a set list of songs to be performed on the day is available on their event page.
Vintage Market – womenswear and accessories
Chew’s Yard
The Vintage Market on Mother’s Day at Chew’s Yard provides a leisurely afternoon exploring a curated collection of vintage womenswear and accessories from a fabulous range of vintage traders.
The Continental
Eric Bell, a founding member of the Irish band Thin Lizzy, is touring across the UK with a selection of rock and blues songs.
Cinema Picks
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man
The Arc Cinema
Peaky Blinders has been a huge hit series for Netflix, but now, as the story comes to a close, this milestone event in the story is set to appear on the big screen. Across the UK, there are only a handful of theaters playing the film, and The Arc Cinema Preston is part of that two-week exclusive window before the film arrives on Netflix.
Exhibition on Screen: Turner & Constable
The Arc Cinema
Two of Britain’s most notable painters, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable, lived and worked contemporaneously. Though they had a bitter rivalry while alive, their works provide incredible insight into the changing world around them, which is why the Tate Modern in London has hosted an exhibition that will now appear on the big screen.
James Acaster: Cinemagoers Welcome

Popular British comedian and former Taskmaster contestant, James Acaster, is bringing his latest comedy show to the big screen. The show, originally titled Hecklers Welcome, saw James perform in front of a crowd where all fan interactions were not just admissible but actively encouraged. Now, the show is being made widely available for the first time since it was performed.
