Two teenage boys have been arrested after triggering a major police chase across Preston and Longridge.

The pursuit began in New Hall Lane on Saturday evening when Lancashire Police tried to stop a suspected stolen motorbike around 10.35pm.

The rider of the bike refused to stop and police began a pursuit calling in the Specialist Operations Unit including a police dog unit and a police helicopter from the National Police Air Service,

Lasting for more than an hour the police kept on the trail of the youths who headed towards Longridge and Ribbleton with police scrambled after them.

Two 16-year-old boys, both from Preston, were arrested and remain in custody after the pursuit. Police dogs also recovered items linked to the investigation during the pursuit.

One is arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop and driving without insurance. The second boy is arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
