16-year-old arrested after Park Hall fire but damage to nightclub not as bad as first thought

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after a fire at a nightclub in Charnock Richard.

Police were called by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service on Tuesday (7 April) evening after at the nightclub in the grounds of the Park Hall Hotel.

That fire was prominent but crews worked to extinguish it by around midnight.

An investigation was launched the following day (8 April) with Lancashire Constabulary and the fire service working to establish the cause of the fire.

A 16-year-old boy from Chorley has been arrested on suspicion of arson. Police continue to appeal for any information which you can provide by calling 101 quoting log 1502 of 7 April.

The operators of the nightclub said that while the fire left them ‘devastated’, the damage to the building is not as severe as first thought.

A spokesperson for the nightclub said: “We are devastated to share that there was a fire last night, located in the offices above our venue. While areas have been significantly affected, the nightclub itself has sustained less damage than first thought.

“We will look at beginning restoration as soon as possible and hope to reopen in the near future

“A massive thank you to the Hotel staff plus Lancashire fire and rescue for their swift response in preventing the spread of the fire and causing further destruction.

“Park Hotel and Spa is fully operational and open as usual.”
