Amended plans have been lodged for the construction of four bungalows by the side of the A6 at Barton.

Submitted by Chorley-based Chambers Investments, the four properties would be built on the site of the former Kopper Kettle home furnishings business at 639a Garstang Road, which is now occupied by Moore Vets.

The bungalows would be for the over-55s and, if approved, a new staff car park would be built within the grounds of the site.

Kopper Kettle closed in 2024 after 25-years in business and the building was occupied by Moore Vets the following year.

Barton has been the site of intense home building for the past decade and more, with Blog Preston regularly reporting on the traffic chaos caused by temporary traffic lights linked to residential schemes in the area.

Most recently, we reported on how work by Cadent on services linked to new homes was causing chaos on the A6, with long delays in both directions.

The delays have got so bad for some Barton residents that they believe the only solution is a new M6 junction south of Garstang in order to relieve the traffic logjam at peak times.
