Man, 20, arrested after 6am rape reported at Preston Bus Station

A man has been arrested after reports that a woman was raped at Preston Bus Station.

A cordon has been in place on the male toilet at the bus station on Saturday (18 April) while officers from Lancashire Constabulary investigate the incident.

Police received the report that a woman had been raped at 6.46am on Saturday morning.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape and is in custody.

A spokesperson for police said: “We were called to Preston Bus Station in Tithebarn Street at 6.46am today (18th April) following reports that a woman had been raped.

“She is currently being supported by specially trained officers.

“Following enquiries, a 20-year-old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in custody at this time.

“This is being treated as an isolated incident and we have a dedicated team of officers assigned to this case.

“Anyone who witnessed or recorded anything suspicious in the area between 5.30am and 6,30am is asked to call 101 and quote log 284 of 18th April 2026.”
