Repair work at a sinkhole in Preston is due to continue into next week.
Moor Lane in Preston was closed on Friday (17 April) after a sinkhole appeared between Victoria Street and Appleby Street close to the University of Lancashire.
In their statement, Lancashire Police said that there was a danger that the sinkhole could increase in size and pose a danger to drivers and pedestrians.

Now, United Utilities are working at the site over the weekend and the road is due to reopen next week.
A United Utilities spokesperson said: “Repair work is being carried out this weekend with reinstatement due to complete next week.
“Our teams are working hard to have the road reopened as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
A spokesperson for Lancashire County Council said: “Following the discovery of a sinkhole on Moor Lane in Preston, the road has been closed and barriers put in place as a precaution. Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause.”
