New Fulwood hub opens to help home-educated children’s wellbeing

A hub for the learning and well-being of home-educated children has opened in Preston.

The Lancashire Wildflowers Learning Hub in Fulwood is specifically designed for home-educated children and young people aged 8 to 16.

It is set up to focus on life skills, emotional wellbeing, creativity and community and will offer families opportunities outside of mainstream education.

Founder Gemma Mills said she chose the name to reflect the hub’s belief that every child is unique.

She said: “Just like wildflowers, children and young people flourish when they are given the right space, care and encouragement.

“We wanted to create a place where they can feel safe, valued and inspired to grow with confidence, curiosity and joy.”

The community interest company offer music classes, crafts and life skills as well as walks and outdoor time.
