A long-serving venue in Preston will close from Saturday night ahead of an expected rebrand.
Popworld has been open at Church Street in Preston since 2013 when it replaced Reflex. It was then renovated in 2018.
But a number of Popworld venues in the UK have closed in 2025 and 2026 so far, with some rebranding and some closing permanently.

Beyond the fact the venue will remain part of the hospitality industry, the future of Popworld is unclear. While the site was not among those listed for sale by owners Stonegate, it was available for lease.
A statement issued by the venue said that the venue will soon reopen with a ‘brand-new offer’.
If it is to remain part of the Stonegate group, some alternative options would be cocktail bar Be At One, Australian-themed Walkabout, or even a similarly-themed Fever Bar which specialises in pop and disco music.
A spokesperson for Popworld in Preston said: “After many incredible years, we’re closing our doors for a short while.
“Popworld Preston has been more than just a bar – it’s been a place where we’ve celebrated the small moments and the big occasions together. From birthdays and after-work drinks to first dates and unforgettable nights, we’ve shared so many special memories.
“We want to say a heartfelt thank you to our guests and the local community for your loyal support.
“While it’s farewell from our current team and the end of Popworld’s chapter, a new era begins soon. After a brief closure, the venue will reopen under new management with a brand-new offer, continuing to serve the community for many more years to come.
“The new team look forward to welcoming you back very soon.”
