Postbank customers who have been using a post office branch to access their accounts will now need to use new and expanded banking channels.
From this Friday, 01 May, Postbank’s savings account customers will access deposit and withdrawal services through Standard Bank and retailers.
The change does not affect social grant beneficiaries.
All South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) grant recipients will continue to receive their payments through existing channels, including retail partners and ATMs.
Postbank has invested more than R500 million over the past three years in technology and infrastructure to ensure customers have access to more reliable banking services.
Thamsanqa Cele, Postbank’s Chief Commercial Officer, says, “This notice applies only to Postbank service account holders and does not affect social grants beneficiaries who already access their payments through retailers and ATMS. We must stress that the change does not affect SASSA recipients and will continue to receive their grants as usual through existing channels, including retail partners and ATMS.”
