More screenings of a film dedicated to Preston’s Bus Station are being planned – after a packed first look.

The Harris played host to the 30-minute documentary which profiles the city’s iconic grade-II listed building which has fans around the world.

Italian filmmaker Gloria Regonesi shot the film during July and August 2024.

She said: “I think this building is fantastic, and that’s why I made a documentary about it. But what started as a gesture of appreciation for its beauty turned into an exploration of the humanity that inhabits the station.

“The celebration of its architecture extends to a celebration of what the station is actually for: allowing people to get where they need to go, and, in a wider sense, also allowing people to be around one another.

“As a foreigner dropped into Preston, I’d say no other place did more to help me understand the city and its people, perhaps with the exception of the pub.”

A screening took place on 16 April at The Harris which included a lively discussion chaired by historian and city tour guide Michael Akers.

He said: “It was really well attended in a fantastic venue and we are working to get another screening arranged for September as part of Preston Arts Festival.”
