A club captain has raised £2,674.93 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Trevor Lafferty, the retiring 2025 appointed club captain of Preston Golf Club, raised the funds through a charity golf day last year.

The Captain’s Day event accompanied coffee mornings, raffles and football card competitions to boost takings.

Trevor mentioned why he chose to support the Preston charity.

He said: “My wife Susan had breast cancer in 2021 and attended Rosemere Cancer Centre throughout her treatment. She finally rang the centre’s end of treatment bell a year later.

“My in-laws also had treatment at Rosemere Cancer Centre and more recently, some extended family members have received their care.

“For these reasons, a cancer charity was always my preferred choice and Rosemere Cancer Foundation is a vital cog in helping Rosemere Cancer Centre provide treatment and rehab.”

Trevor added: “I’m delighted to help in this small way. My thanks to everyone at Preston Golf Club for their support, to Sandra, Peter and the many family and friends, who donated raffle and competition prizes.”
