Ashington Pupils Celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday

Pupils at St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School began the celebrations with a special tribute assembly before taking part in a variety of nature, conservation and creative projects.

“St Aidan’s proudly celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday by exploring how we can all follow in his footsteps and care for the natural world,” said Headteacher Julie Teer.

“Our Year  4 children led a wonderful David Attenborough-themed assembly, inspiring the whole school with messages about conservation and protecting our planet,” she continued.

“Throughout the week, pupils were busy planting seed bombs, taking part in bug hunts, creating beautiful David Attenborough portraits, and creating their own documentaries about the natural world.

“Our Nursery children made special birthday cards and even held a birthday party in his honour!”

The school, which is a member of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, also joined others from across the UK in a live lesson as part of the nationwide celebrations for the renowned natural historian on his centenary.

“A fantastic week of learning, creativity, and appreciation for our amazing world,” added Mrs Teer.

“Happy 100th birthday, Sir David Attenborough!”
