Members of a community group have donated £783 to the local charity, Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

The funds were raised by Preston’s Gamers Guild by a raffle at their gaming convention, ‘Aaroncon’, held at Lancaster University.

The group, who meet weekly at Plungington Community Centre, play a range of contemporary board games and has, over time, raised nearly £9,000 for the charity.

Aaron, a member of the group and who works in HR at Lancaster University, said: “Aaroncon was an opportunity for everyone to take part in a 72-hour gaming weekend, try some new games and play board game-themed mini games while playing board games.

“Thank you to everyone who supported both the convention and the raffle.”

He continued: “Anyone who enjoys board games is welcome to join us in Plungington for a friendly evening of board games.

“We play a huge array of games from social deduction games to European-style board games, fantasy-style games and strategy games, including card games. Our next Aaroncon, Aaroncon 2, will then take place from the 7-10 January next year.”
