Armed police chase driver through Longridge into Preston before stinger deployed

A man has been arrested after leading police on a chase through Longridge and into Preston.

Police confirmed the incident on Tuesday morning (9 June) and said that a driver had failed to stop for a Lancashire Constabulary armed response vehicle.

As a result, a chase took place from Longridge into Preston before a police stinger – also known as a spike strip – was deployed.

The driver of the vehicle then attempted to flee on foot but was caught and arrested.

A spokesperson for police said: “This cloned vehicle failed to stop for ARV and was pursued through Longridge into Preston. Following being stung it ran out of tyre, the driver then ran out of talent, and after trying to run away, ran out of stamina.

“One male arrested for a variety of traffic offences and car seized.”
