She said: “Being a governor at Broughton High School for the past 35 years has been a real privilege, and stepping down as Chair of Governors after so long is a very emotional moment.
“What has always made Broughton High School special, though, is its family spirit.
“Staff may have changed, families have seen different generations educated here, and the buildings themselves have evolved, but that strong sense of community has remained constant.
“I’m incredibly proud to have played a part in the school’s journey and grateful for the many friendships, memories and experiences it has given me.
“I would like to thank everyone I’ve worked with over the years for their support and dedication. While it’s time for me to step aside, I will always have a deep affection for the school and will continue to follow its successes with great pride.”
Before her career at Broughton, Judith was the head of the Ethnic Minority Achievement Project at Lancashire County Council.
She received a plaque and a thank you from the staff.
David Botes, headteacher at the high school, thanked Judith for her hard work over the years.

“On behalf of the entire school community, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Judith Fawbert for an extraordinary 35 years of dedicated service to the Governing Body at Broughton High School.
“Throughout that time, as a Governor, Judith has made an exceptional contribution to the life and success of the school, including many years as Chair of Governors.
“Judith has worked with all four of the Headteachers who have been in post since the school opened, and in May 2015, Judith was presented with an award by the Lancashire Association of School Governing Bodies for her outstanding contribution to Broughton High School.
“Judith’s unwavering commitment, wisdom, and support have helped shape Broughton High School’s development and ensured the best possible outcomes for generations of pupils.
“While we will greatly miss her experience and guidance, we thank Judith for her remarkable legacy of service to the school, our Governing Body, and for the lasting impact she has made.”
