Accused number one in the Phala Phala theft case, Imanuwela David, has denied that calls made to his co-accused were conspiring to steal money at the farm.
David appeared before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on Wednesday, saying that he was in constant communication with his co-accused.
He and the Joseph siblings, Froliana and Ndilinasho, are accused of stealing over 500 000 US dollars from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm in February 2020.
The court heard that David and Ndilinasho Joseph exchanged 49 calls and text messages between the 1st of January and the 13th of February of that year.
“Those are the allegations even myself, I have heard, but my communication between myself and accused number three – it has nothing to do with us conspiring to go and try to steal (at the farm) as it has been said,” adds David.
