World-renowned forensic pathologist Dr Richard Shepherd is bringing his latest live show to Edinburgh.

One of the world’s best-known forensic pathologists is set to take audiences behind the scenes of some of the most high-profile investigations of recent decades when he brings his latest live show to Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall.

Dr Richard Shepherd, who has carried out more than 24,000 autopsies during his career, has worked on cases linked to events including the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Bali bombings, the London bombings, the Princess Diana inquiry and the investigation into the death of Gareth Williams, known as the “Spy in the Bag” case.

A familiar face on television through programmes such as The Truth About My Murder, Body in the Water and The Last Hours Of…, Dr Shepherd has spent decades investigating sudden, unexplained and suspicious deaths.

His latest theatre show, Time of Death: More Unnatural Causes, explores the crucial role time plays in forensic pathology and criminal investigations.

Drawing on real-life cases from throughout his career, Dr Shepherd explains how forensic experts determine when a person died, what happens to the body after death and how these findings can help uncover the truth behind accidents, murders and unexplained deaths.

Audiences can expect an insight into the science behind forensic investigations, as well as personal reflections from a man who has spent much of his working life examining some of the most challenging and complex cases in modern history.

The show will explore the evidence left behind at crime scenes, the painstaking process of forensic examination and the methods used to piece together events surrounding a death.

Alongside the forensic science, Dr Shepherd will also reflect on the personal impact of a career spent working at the intersection of life, death and justice.

Combining true crime, medicine and real-life experiences, the show offers audiences a rare opportunity to hear first-hand from one of the UK’s most experienced forensic pathologists.

Time of Death: More Unnatural Causes will be performed at Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall as part of its UK tour.
