Free Travel for Veterans and Serving Personnel as Newcastle Marks Armed Forces Day

Stagecoach is helping people attend Newcastle’s Armed Forces Day celebrations by offering free bus travel to serving military personnel, veterans and cadets taking part in the city’s commemorative event on Saturday 27 June.

The Armed Forces Day event will take place at Newcastle Civic Centre from 10am to 3pm and will bring together members of the armed forces community, civic leaders and residents to recognise the contribution and sacrifice of serving personnel, veterans and their families.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a programme of activities throughout the day, including military displays, live music, family-friendly entertainment and information stalls from organisations supporting the armed forces community, including the Joint Ex-Serviceman’s Association (JESA), Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) and HMS Calliope.

As part of its support for Armed Forces Day 2026, Stagecoach is offering free travel to serving military personnel, veterans and cadets on all Stagecoach bus services across the UK on 27 and 28 June.

Steve Walker, Managing Director of Stagecoach North East, said:

“We’re proud to support Armed Forces Day by providing free travel across our network and helping people attend events taking place in communities across the region and beyond.

“Armed Forces Day is an important opportunity for Newcastle to come together and recognise the courage, dedication and sacrifice of those who serve, or have served, in our armed forces.”

To access free travel, serving military personnel and cadets should travel in uniform or present a valid HM Armed Forces identification card. Veterans should present a veteran’s badge or military medal.

Stagecoach has been a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant since 2015, recognising the value and contribution of serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families to communities across the UK.
