In pictures: Scarecrows to explore across Ingol and Tanterton

A Scarecrow Festival in Ingol and Tanterton has brought the community together again with creative displays.

There are a range of prizes on offer for the best scarecrow decorated.

Lauren Smith entered the competition with an Up- themed scarecrow display. She said, “I just love Up and Disney and I thought to be able to create a little Kevin would be cool. A lot of it is chicken wire under Kevin and the Carl one is a wooden structure, and his face is done with paper mâché.

“I think the scarecrow festival is great, things like this are amazing for the community and it’s lovely to see residents coming out with their kids and hunting for them. I think it’s nice.”

A member of staff at Ashborne nursery described their creation. She said, “Our scarecrow started off as an idea as a contemporary garden that we were going to make anyway with wellies and small shoes from our children. As the scarecrow competition came along, we thought why not incorporate both and do a complete Ashborne in bloom.”

Pool house primary school have gone for a Wizard of Oz theme inspired by their KS2 school play, Oz the musical. KS2 had collectively created this display with reception students colouring in the flying monkeys.

A teacher at Pool house said: “Our school is wicked, it’s a great place to be.”

Saint Margaret’s church decided to create their scarecrow based on Saint Margaret and the Dragon.

The Tanterton Christian Centre made a very colourful display of Noah’s Ark.

Dovedale Court care home created a workman scarecrow. The care home residents had lots of fun taking part in building their scarecrow.

Cara-Jane Englishby spent two-three hours making her hairdresser and client scarecrow with her siblings aged seven, three and two.
