Controversial North West businessman Brown Mogotsi’s second bail judgment is scheduled for Monday morning at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

Mogotsi launched a fresh bail bid last week, based on new facts.

This came after his initial bail application was denied earlier this month due to unverifiable residential addresses.

He is currently facing charges of defeating the ends of justice, perjury, and unlawful possession of a firearm, related to an alleged staged assassination attempt in Vosloorus in November last year.

Mogotsi was previously denied bail over inconsistencies with his residential address.

During his bail appeal, the state strongly opposed the application and introduced new evidence alleging that Mogotsi, while in custody, tried to pressure and intimidate a neighbour three times, through his wife, to change her statement about where he lived.

The defence has denied any intimidation, including the mentioned telephone call, which it says is an exercise by the state to paint Mogotsi negatively and keep him incarcerated.
