Love Island USA contestant Alannah Keyser has apologised after leaving the reality show when historic social media posts resurfaced appearing to show her using a racial slur.
Keyser became the second contestant removed from the current season over past racist language after videos and screenshots from a private social media account emerged online shortly after she entered the villa. The posts reportedly were not uncovered during Peacock’s vetting process because they were not publicly accessible.
Addressing the controversy in a TikTok video. “I’m sorry to whoever has seen that video and has been offended by it. That was never my intention.”
She said the footage was recorded six years ago and no longer reflected who she is. “The video is from six years ago, and that word is just not in my vocabulary any more.”
The reality TV contestant also rejected allegations that she held racist views, insisting the resurfaced material did not represent her character. “What has been shared does not reflect the truth, and it’s never been in my character to discriminate against anybody’s skin colour. I do want to say directly that I do not support racism or discrimination of any kind, and I never have.”
Keyser entered the villa during the Casa Amor twist but appeared only briefly before the programme’s narrator announced: “Alannah has left Casa Amor.”
Her exit came after videos allegedly showed her lip-syncing the n-word in a song, while screenshots also appeared to show her using the same racial slur in an Instagram comment and a Snapchat message.
The incident marks the second contestant removal for racist language this season. Earlier, Vasana Montgomery exited the programme after videos surfaced showing her using the same slur.
In an Instagram statement following her departure, Montgomery said. “In those videos, I used a racial slur. There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry.”
“I am embarrassed and disappointed by my words. I take full responsibility for what I said and understand why it has hurt and upset people.”
The latest controversy follows similar incidents during the previous season, when contestants Yulissa Escobar and Cierra Ortega also left the show after historic videos containing racist slurs resurfaced online before later issuing public apologies.
