Delays on the M6 at rush hour were to allow for the emergency repair of a pothole.
There were significant delays on the motorway heading northbound on Tuesday (2 June) at around 5.30pm due to what Traffic England described at the time as an ‘incident’.
Two lanes of the motorway were closed at junction 29 for Bamber Bridge with traffic queuing back towards junction 27 for Standish.

This was to allow for emergency repairs to be carried out on the carriageway. Pothole repairs on the motorway network are handled by National Highways rather than Lancashire County Council.
The closure was in place from 5.27pm until 6.11pm.
A spokesperson for National Highways: North West said: “To safely repair a pothole a lane closure was put in place at 5.27pm. This was lifted at 6.11pm.”
