Police charge 34-year-old man after explosives found at Ingol property

A 34-year-old man from has been charged after explosives were discovered at a property in Ingol.

Police were called to an address in Tag Croft at around lunchtime on Saturday, 2 May to reports of potentially explosive material inside an address.

At the time, police confirmed the person arrested was a white British national. No properties were evacuated and the incident was not treated as terror related.

A 34-year-old was arrested at the time and now that person has been charged.

David Rutherord, 34, of Tag Croft, Preston, who is also known as Kaylee Rutherford, is due to appear before Preston Magistrates’ Court on Friday (June 5) charged with possessing explosive substance for unlawful purposes.

A spokesperson for police said: “You may remember that in May we attended an address on Tag Croft following concerns that there could be potentially explosive material inside an address.

“Officers arrested a 34-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act and following further enquiries, and after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, they have been charged.

“David Rutherord, 34, of Tag Croft, Preston, who is also known as Kaylee Rutherford, is due to appear before magistrates in Preston this morning (June 5th) charged with Possess explosive substance for unlawful purpose from 02/05/2026.”
