Work to renovate a popular Broughton pub has been extended after the planned works uncovered structural issues that needed addressing.
The Broughton Inn, on the corner of Whittingham Lane and Garstang Road, closed its doors on 10 May and was due to reopen again on 13 June.
They said that as renovation work has been taken it has become clear that a number of structural improvements were needed that couldn’t wait.

This means that the new opening date is targeted for July, although it will depend on the work being completed on time.
Due to the delays, the temporary lights in place outside the pub since 11 May will now be in place for an extended period.
A spokesperson for the pub said: “We know you’re all looking forward to seeing The Broughton Inn reopen, and believe us, we’re looking forward to welcoming you back just as much.
“As work has continued, we’ve uncovered a few additional structural improvements that simply couldn’t be left unfinished. Whilst we’d love to throw the doors open as soon as possible, it’s important to us that when we do welcome you back, the pub is completed to the highest standard and, most importantly, safe for our guests and team.
“The transformation is really starting to come together, and our sights are set on reopening in July.”
The pub has over 150 years over history and has previously been known as the Shuttleworth Arms, Trader Jack’s and Burlington’s.
