As part of its 2026 summer tour, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra will bring live classical music performances and educational programmes to 26 towns and cities across Scotland.
The tour will feature a diverse programme of orchestral, chamber and choral performances, alongside creative learning activities designed to engage local communities. By taking world-class music to venues across the country, the Orchestra aims to make high-quality classical performances more accessible while strengthening connections with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
As part of this year’s tour, the SCO are performing Duruflé’s Requiem at Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh on the 19 June at 7.30pm.
SCO Chorus performs a concert of profound beauty and spiritual depth. At the heart of the programme is Duruflé’s Requiem, a work of luminous serenity and consolation, blending Gregorian chant with exquisite harmonies to create one of the most beloved choral works of the 20th century.
Complementing this masterpiece are Philip Glass’ Three Songs for mixed a cappella choir, hypnotic and meditative in their minimalist elegance, and Sir James MacMillan’s Miserere, a deeply moving modern reflection on faith and mercy. Together, these works offer a journey through timeless sound worlds- intimate, transcendent, and unforgettable.
