His remarks come as protests against undocumented foreign nationals surge across the country.
Speaking during the tabling of the Presidency Budget in Parliament, Ramaphosa acknowledged that illegal immigration remains a serious challenge in the country.
He says government is working towards strengthening the country’s borders and ensuring that employers adhere to labour laws.
Ramaphosa says, “We are cracking down on violations of immigration laws, we are increasing our inspections of workplaces and prosecuting employers who violate our labour laws, we are strengthening, Madam Speaker, we are strengthening border security, stamping out corruption in the immigration system and closing the loopholes in fragmented immigration laws.”

This expansion marks the largest in BIXI's history.</p><p>Four new cities — Sherbrooke, Saint-Eustache, Deux-Montagnes, and Saint-Lambert — will officially join the BIXI network this summer. Meanwhile, significant growth is happening closer to Montreal, with Laval nearly tripling its number of stations from 26 to 75 and Longueuil completing its three-year expansion by adding 22 more stations.</p><p>Montreal itself will also benefit from denser network coverage and the continuation of <a href="https://www.mtlblog.com/montreal/montreals-bixi-bikes-will-be-available-year-round-heres-what-it-means" target="_blank">BIXI's year-round service</a>, which is now permanent following a successful pilot project. Winter biking has been especially popular, with 27% more trips recorded this past winter compared to the year before. According to BIXI, 63% of users said they ride year-round to save time, and 61% had already used a winter BIXI — nearly double the number from last year.</p><p>The full BIXI network — including Montreal, Westmount, Mont-Royal, Montreal East, Longueuil, Laval, Boucherville, Terrebonne, Sainte-Julie, and more — is expected to be fully operational by April 15. New stations are already being installed and stocked as of this week.</p><p>BIXI's seasonal membership is available now for $112 until May 31. It includes unlimited 45-minute rides on mechanical bikes and discounts on e-bikes until November 15. A monthly membership is also available for $23, with similar perks.
