Tributes have been paid to a Preston-born man who has died at the age of 27.

Jamie Marvill died on Tuesday, 16 June, after a three-year battle with testicular cancer.

This follows a charity football match held in Fulwood in his honour at the start of June.

Philip Powell, match secretary of the event held at Fulwood Amateurs, said: “We as a club are devastated to hear about the passing of Jamie.

“It was a privilege getting to know Jamie and his family these past few months. Jamie was one of the most courageous and beautiful people we have had the honour of meeting.

“Our deepest sympathy & thoughts go out to Jamie’s family and friends.”

During his life, Jamie was financially supported by Preston TikTok creators, Spudbros.

Harley and Jacob announced a free spud day in February with additional funds to help Jamie with his finances.

Prior to the event, the brothers took to Facebook and said, “Treatment has completely turned his life upside down. He hasn’t been able to work. He’s fighting physically, mentally, and financially.”

After Jamie died, they told Blog Preston that he would be ‘greatly missed.’

They added: “We feel incredibly lucky to have met Jamie and created memories with him.

“Sending our love and deepest condolences to his family and friends.”

The fundraising didn’t stop there with friend Kieran Rudd aiming to raise funds for Jamie’s everyday costs after he was told he couldn’t work nearly a year ago.

He said: “He lit up every room he walked in and the whole of Preston was behind him.

“We are all devastated and heartbroken but if there’s one thing Jamie has taught everyone is that we have to be strong and keep smiling.”
